About

The Cadillac Area Ski Club and Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort are proud to continue the Junior Development Program.  The 2023 season starts January 5th and runs thru March 2nd.  This program is for all area children, age 8 to 14, who wish to expand their skiing skills into the area of alpine ski racing. Those 7 and under need coaching staff approval.

Training will be held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 & Saturdays 10 AM to noon, with three official weekend club races against other area ski clubs and many spring race opportunities at Caberfae Peaks.  All training will be at Caberfae Peaks, with athletes and coaching meeting at the race shacks out on South Peak.

Our first day of training we traditionally host a coach and parent meet and greet at the bottom of Shelter near the ticket office.  Our program is always excepting new participants, feel free to contact us at anytime.

Coaching for the 2023 season will be divided between experienced area coaches; Meg Mogan, Keenan Cooper, Larry Waldo and Seth Houk.

Training will consist of a wide range of on hill activities used to increase athletes technique and tactics of alpine ski racing.  Exercises within and outside of set courses are aimed at challenging athletes in order to increase balance, experience, knowledge and love of alpine ski racing.  These will include focused skill building drills, race day preparedness and gate training involving stubby courses, brushes, directional cues, etc.

The cost for the 9 week program is $175.00 per athlete per season for training only. You can train any or all days.

All athletes need to have both a signed Registration Waiver and Caberfae Release on file in order to participate in training.  Registration is always open to new athletes.

Cadillac High School Team

Congratulations to the 2022 High School Girls State Champs!

Cadillac High School has a rich tradition as a powerhouse in ski racing. Since the state recognized ski racing as a MHSAA sanctioned sport in 1975, the Cadillac Boys’ Ski Team has won State Titles in ‘78 and ‘81. They were Runners’ Up in ‘76 ,‘82, 14’, and have numerous other top-ten finishes. The Cadillac Girls’ Ski Team won State Titles in ‘77, ‘78, ‘83,  ‘90 and ’22. They were Runners’ Up in ‘75, ‘76, ‘80, ‘82, ‘84, ‘85, ‘86, ‘89, ‘96, and ‘01. The girls have rarely been out of the top 10.

These records make the Cadillac High School Ski Team the most successful athletic program at Cadillac High School. Historically, we rank 4th in the state, behind Traverse City , Marquette and Petoskey.

In order to stay competitive, we need to train our young athletes in the art of ski racing at a younger age. This allows them the time to develop their skills in a fun, yet competitive, way. Our goal is to teach our young athletes ski racing fundamentals and to teach them the fun of competition. This, we hope, will keep the tradition of Cadillac Skiing alive and well.
